Using any of these sources/profiles you create, you can connect and load files directly into ASP Express, as well as performing Remote Saves also, once you've finished editing the loaded file.
This is a very powerful section of ASP Express, and as of version 2.0, it's totally re-written with multiple FTP profiles available. With the Remote Tab, you can load files directly from your web server via FTP and save them back. Keep in mind this is designed only for access to and saving Remote files. All the ftp information for all your entries are included in a new file that you'll most likely want to backup every once in a while, especially when you need to re-install for any reason. The file name is 'ASPExpress_Y0077.tt02.aop'. Also - rest assured - all your passwords in this file are encrypted for your protection.
Working with FTP sites/profiles:
To add a new FTP profile, right click in the upper section of the Remote Tab area, and choose 'Add FTP Site '. The choices you have at this point are :
Description - this is what you name the ftp connection - only for your own purposes - no url is needed here.
URL - here's where you put in the url to connect with.
Directory - if there is a different directory than the root directory where all the files are - sometimes called a Host Directory.
Login - your user ID for each ftp site
Password - your password for each ftp site
Connect Type - Active or Passive.....just leave it on the default if it works.
Port - the default port number is the normal port number for ftp. Only change it if given explicit instructions from the ftp host administrator
You probably noticed, when you did the right click, that you had other options - Edit, Delete & Connect (Disconnect, if you are already connected to a site). If you need to change your ftp connection information for any particular site, click on the site name, then right click to Edit the information. Then, if you no longer wish to list a particular site - click on it, right click and choose Delete.
To Connect to any one of the FTP sites you entered here, either choose it, then right click and then choose Connect, or the simplest way is just to double click on the ftp site.
the buttons at the top of the Remote Tab are:
Save (the disk Icon) - it saves the open file directly back to the open directory in the open FTP site
Delete - deletes the selected file on the FTP site - be very careful.
Reset - clears current connection
Resize - in case filenames are fairly big on the remote site - clicking here makes the Express Toolbox much wider - then, click again to put it back to the former size.
